Hoosier Burn Camp Ride 2011

Today we are riding to Camp Tecumseh for visitors day at Burn Camp with our Brothers from the Mother Chapter, Indianapolis and the Region and Northeast chapters.

The club will be presenting Burn Camp with a donation that is the result of our collective work and all of your generous support over the last year! I am excited to go, as I missed the ride last year due to work. I am leaving from working a midnight shift and heading out to meet my brothers at 7 am.

I hope that this year, your generosity will humble us once again and give us a further sense of pride in our communities as we support this worthy cause.

Thanks!

Is it time yet?

I am sure all of you who ride are chomping at the bit, just like we are, to start riding again!!

Well, it is almost time to hit the roads and enjoy again. But there are a few things you should do before heading out.

Check your tires! Make sure the air pressure is good and that there are no cuts and enough tread remains. You only have 2 of them seperating you from the asphalt, so make sure they are up to the task!

Make sure all of your fluids are topped off or replaced if needed. You don't want to end up stranded because of fluids.

Ensure your brakes work properly and the brake linings are not worn out.

Consider putting together a roadside emergency kit. A tool kit for minor breakdowns, and a small amount of first aid supplies in case the worst happens. If you are allergic to bee's, I would recommend keeping an epipen on the bike also. A good friend of mine who is allergic oncve caught a bee in between his full face helmet and his temple. Before he could stop and remove his helmet he was stung several times.luckily he was in toewn and made it to the hospital in time. I can't imajine being far from help and this happening!!

Well, that's enough reaching for now!

See you on the road!!

Meetup Saturday Night

This Saturday night, we will be meeting up at Boomers at the North end of the Portage Mall on Central Ave.

Come on out and join us for a few drinks as we get together and show Boomer the support he has shown us!

See you there around 7!!

How many miles did you ride last year??

Did you ride enough miles last year? Are you sitting home now with snow piled up along the driveway where just a month or two ago you parked your bike, wishing you had ridden that day the weatherman was wrong and it didn't rain? Or the day that was a bit chilly that you drove your cage instead or manning up and riding?

I myself am rather happy with my miles last year. I rode in the rain (like heading home from South Haven Fire Fest in a bad thunderstorm. I stayed just in front of the worst of it!) I froze my butt off more than a few times.

For me, my bike is not something that sits in the garage and gets polished every weekend before a 1 hour ride. No, for me it is how I get around most of the year. It is an expression of my freedom to enjoy the ride to work, or to the bank, or just taking a ride in the country with my girl.

I look back on my spring, summer and fall of riding and have very few regrets. There were a couple of days where I could have ridden instead of caging it, but for the most part, I rode every day I could.

Then there is Short Bus. The man is an animal when it comes to riding! He has logged more miles than anyone else in the chapter last year. He has even been out a number of times this winter.

So, I tip my hat to the Short Bus. I hope to ride as many or more miles than you this year!

As soon as the snow is gone. Damn, you have a head start on me already!

Welcome!!

Welcome to the Rolling Inferno M.C. Tri-County blog!

On this blog we will talk about the goings on in and around Northwest Indiana as far as riding events and gatherings.

The Rolling Inferno M.C. Consists of 4 Indiana Chapters(Indianapolis, The Region, and Northeast) with membership being restricted to Firefighters, Police Officers, EMS, EMA and all other public safety officials.

The Tri-County Chapter was formed in February of 2010 by 12 firefighters and one police officer.

Our goal each year is to enjoy riding and Brotherhood together while raising money for our two charities, Hoosier Burn Camp and Supporting Heroes.

Along the way, we have met a lot of good folks and made some friends.

We hope to see you on the road this year at one of our fundraisers or poker runs!

See you in the wind!!
